Description
The perfect Valentine’s treat! This bark delivers crisp Oreo crunch swirled into smooth white chocolate, drizzled with festive pink melts. It’s shockingly easy: melt, mix, chill.
Ingredients
- White Chocolate Melting Wafers (24 ounces)
- Oreo Cookies (1 package, 14.3 ounces)
- Pink or Red Candy Melts (6 ounces)
- Vegetable Shortening or Coconut Oil (1 teaspoon, divided)
- february celebration Sprinkles (1/4 cup)
- Alcohol-Free Vanilla Extract (1/2 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the pan and cookies. Line a large baking sheet (approximately 10×15 inches) with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Roughly chop or crush the Oreo cookies into medium-sized chunks; set aside about 1/4 cup of the pieces for topping.
- Step 2: Melt the base chocolate. Place the white chocolate wafers and 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted. Stir in the vanilla bean paste.
- Step 3: Combine and spread the bark base. Gently fold the majority of the crushed Oreo cookies (reserving the 1/4 cup) into the melted white chocolate until evenly coated. Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and use an offset spatula to spread it into an even layer, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Step 4: Melt and drizzle the accent color. Place the pink or red candy melts and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of shortening in a separate small bowl. Microwave in 15-second intervals until smooth. Use a fork or a piping bag to drizzle the colored chocolate across the white chocolate mixture in a decorative zigzag pattern.
- Step 5: Decorate and chill the bark. Immediately sprinkle the reserved crushed Oreos and the february celebration sprinkles over the top of the wet chocolate. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 to 45 minutes, or until the bark is completely hardened and set.
- Step 6: Break and serve. Once fully set, remove the bark from the refrigerator. Lift the parchment paper off the tray and break the hardened chocolate into irregular, festive pieces. Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
Notes
- To maintain the best texture and flavor, store leftover bark in an airtight container at room temperature rather than the fridge, where condensation can cause sugar bloom.
- For the cleanest break and crunchiest texture, ensure the bark is fully chilled (45 minutes minimum) and serve pieces straight from the refrigerator, especially if your kitchen is warm.
- Elevate this treat by using broken shards as a festive garnish stuck into Valentine's cupcakes, or serve alongside a mug of steaming hot cocoa for dipping.
- When melting the accent color, use a fork or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped instead of a spoon to achieve those delicate, thin zigzag drizzle lines for a professional finish.
