Description
These no-bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Hearts are pure Valentine’s magic! Creamy, sweet peanut butter dough, chilled and dipped in chocolate. Perfect holiday indulgence.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups confectioners' (powdered) sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or vegetable shortening)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually mix in the peanut butter, then incorporate the confectioners' sugar, vanilla powder, and salt until a stiff dough forms.
- Step 2: Roll the peanut butter mixture to about 1/2 inch thickness between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
- Step 3: Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until completely smooth and melted. The oil helps thin the chocolate for easy dipping.
- Step 4: Using a fork or dipping tool, carefully dip each frozen peanut butter heart into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the heart back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Step 5: Optional: Decorate with sprinkles or contrasting melted white chocolate drizzle immediately after dipping. Refrigerate the finished hearts for at least one hour, or until the chocolate coating is completely firm before serving or storing.
Notes
- For optimal freshness and texture, keep these hearts stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, layered with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Since these are a chilled confection, take them out of the fridge 15 to 20 minutes before serving to slightly soften the peanut butter filling, enhancing the rich flavor.
- Serve these rich, decadent treats alongside a strong espresso or a small glass of milk, or include them on a dessert board featuring fresh berries for a refreshing contrast.
- For a clean, crack-free chocolate coating, ensure the peanut butter hearts are truly rock-solid frozen before dipping; if they start to soften, quickly return them to the freezer to prevent the chocolate from sliding off.
