Description
Experience comfort! Warm rice layers perfectly with seasoned, tender ground beef, then drenched in savory garlic butter. Top with mozzarella/cheddar for maximum melt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- 3 cups cooked white rice (warm)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease, then season the beef with salt, pepper, and the Worcestershire sauce. Set the seasoned beef aside.
- Step 2: In a small saucepan, melt the 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant (do not let the garlic burn). Remove the garlic butter from the heat.
- Step 3: Combine the cooked rice and the seasoned ground beef in the large skillet. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the rice and beef, stirring thoroughly until everything is well-coated and heated through.
- Step 4: Transfer the rice mixture into four oven-safe serving bowls or return the entire mixture to a clean, oven-safe skillet. Top generously with the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend.
- Step 5: Preheat the broiler to high. Place the bowls or skillet under the broiler for 2 to 4 minutes, watching carefully until the cheese is completely melted, bubbly, and slightly browned on the edges. Serve immediately.
Notes
- If you are preparing this dish ahead of time, store the fully mixed beef and rice (without cheese) in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, adding the cheese and broiling just before serving.
- To reheat a leftover bowl, add a tablespoon of water or broth to the rice mixture before microwaving until hot, then transfer to a safe dish to quickly re-broil the cheese until melted and bubbly.
- For a crucial flavor boost, cook the minced garlic in the butter over very low heat for exactly one minute; do not allow the garlic to brown or burn, as it will taste bitter.
- This rich bowl is perfectly balanced by a topping of fresh chopped green onions, chives, or a dollop of cool sour cream to cut through the heavy cheese and butter.
